    Character App Clarifications

For context of the following, please see here for information on Materials and Items and the like!

When starting out, you are limited to the following:

    • Iron max starting material. No steel, no titanium, no seastone.
    • A set amount of weapons. Two One-handed weapons (Katana, daggers, pistols, etc) or One Two-handed weapon. (Claymore, rifle, axe, etc)
    • All starting firearms are Single Shot. Firearms with more shots can be purchased seperately. Having Marksman as a profession does NOT make you an exception to this rule.
    • You may add Thrown Weapons such as knives, shuriken, etc and for a small removal of your starting Beli, you may be allowed to carry more. This is MOD Discretion however.
    • Please Keep Your Starting Items Reasonable. No Den Den mushi, no Seastone, no Adam Wood. You may start with some ornamental items such as jewelry and supportive items such as medicines, drugs, etc, but please keep it reasonable. Mods may ask you to tone numbers down at their discretion.

    Gains/Losses and Edit Logs

It has come to my attention that way too many people do not know how the Gains and Losses section is supposed to work in conjuncture with the Edit Log, from both brand new members to old veterans. Hopefully this is just a case of lack of explanation from the staff, so hopefully this will clear things up.

The Gains and Losses section is meant to document everything that your character has been given or rewarded as well as anything they have lost due to purchases, IC death, etc. Each line of the Gains/Losses should include three things: What gave you the rewards or made you lose something, a link to the topic, and what exactly you gained or lost. For example, if your latest SL was just graded, you need to put under your gains and losses the name of the SL, a link to the post where the grader gave you your rewards, and the amount of SD and beli you earned as well as any items or fame you might have been given.

The Edit Log is not the place to do this. Rather, the Edit Log is there to explain to moderators why you edited your app at any time. Obviously there comes a price with letting members edit their own apps since it is possible for foul play to become involved, which is why we need to know this. The reason you make these edits might differ (fixing typos, adding contest rewards, etc.) but the process is the same: You need to state what you edited and when. For instance, if you are editing your character to update his stats and beli after your latest storyline, then you say "Added gains from _____ on MM/DD/YY" (or DD/MM/YY if you do it that way). That's it; you don't need to include links to the topic (those are already in the Gains/Losses) or go into paragraph details as to why you simply had to fix that glaring typo. It's just a simple sentence.

    Example:

This is just an example. You don't have to format it the exact same way, like using the List function or placing date first on the Edit Log, but the information needs to be there. It would also be helpful if it was written down in chronological order. As you see, in my G/L the newest item goes on top while in the Edit Log I choose to put the newest on the bottom; just personal preference.

Also keep in mind that when making edits to your app during the character approval process, you do not need to post in the edit log. It's only meant for after your character has been approved.

When editing your character sheet, the following rules must be observed:

    • Date of change must be listed
    • All areas of character sheet altered must be listed
    • There must be an edit log entry made for any edits to a character sheet. Period. (AKA: There should never be an edit stamp and no corresponding log of what happened.)

    Hair Section

    Color. Length. Style.

That about sums it up. I'll update this if more common mistakes come along to make things clear.
